Election, again

Rainy

Today is a day for us to elect replacement members for Tokyo councilor election. The wet on the polling day means a light poll. How many people will come to today's voting...

People, especially the youth of our country are indifferent to politics. One of ther major reasons are both lack of understanding and information.

They do not understand what would be changed through voting. It is unclear for us the difference among individulal candidates. As far as the candidates belog to any political parties, (moreover to various factions within the party), there would be no meanings to whome we vote. It is a kind of issue to which political party/factions we choose.

Truely speaking, I do not know exactly what kinds of power is delegated to the Tokyo municipal council from Japanese government. Shinichiro Ishihara, one of the famous politician and governor of Tokyo Metropolitan, leads Tokyo councilor. Though he is talkative, the political policy is not always clear.

Abstention from voting is one of the choice for voters. However, even though I do not understand the difference among candidates, I intend to come to vote today as I consider it is not only the right but the obligation for Japanese people.

The current eleciton system has a lot of problem. One of them is no national referendum. Japanese cannot chooose ourselves prime ministar through referendum. Politics like in US presidential election. Off course, there are a tons of problem in the political world here....but, I stand for voting!
