We participated EFR(Emergency First Response) program at mic Field, diving shop.

EFR is one of the license which PADI's affiliate corporateion, emergency first response corp issues not only as a part of certification of scuba diving program but essential skill for everyone in daily life.
Although it took almost a day(total 8.5 hours!!), there were a lot of practical training and demonstrations we experienced. It was a fun for us actually to join it today...but we were exhausted indeed... :-p.
We learned and practiced CPR(Cardioulmonary Resuscitation) like rescue breathing and heart massage. It was first time for us to "DO" it by ourselves.
We are encouraged to use "barrier" on every scene in order for us not to be infected with dangerous virus(hepatitis B, C and HIV). "Barrier" means gloves, masks, eye-guards, and so on. Japanese are not sensitive for infection of virus. We say we are too naive...i.e. ignorance about the threat of infection. In fact, no "barrier" is in first-aid box at home in Japan...
Incidentally, at EFR, we should tell a sufferer/patient that " I am ... and emergency responder... May I help you?". I felt something... As far as we do not ask it and have "OK" from a sufferer/patient, we cannot do anything other than calling EMS(emergency medical service). "Good Summaritan" Law does not exist in Japan. So, we are not indemnified legally at the moment. It looks unreasonable but we have to understand it.
I feel the importance of EFR practice. It is essential knowledge for everyone. I would like my friends to participate the program from now on.
