Department of Digital Game @ Osaka Electro-Communication University

Department of Digital Games at Osaka Electro-Communication University is in high favor among high-school students.

Osaka Electro-Communication University established the Department of Digital Games, the Faculty of Inforamtion Science and Arts as of April 2003.

The admission on recommendation in this deparment is highly competitive, i.e. ca.40 quota vs. more than 950 preferred applicants. The university actuallly welcomed 78 successful applicants.

The university invites a digital game producer with ex-Konami while it has set up the full-fledged facility in the site. The business shows interest in the university's approach.

Off course, there are industry-university cooperations among a lot of universities in this country. But "digital games" could be major at last.

I expect this is one of the good example to build deeper cooperation between businesses and universities from now on.
