I participated RED program during the weekend(December 27-28, 2003) at Ohsezaki, Izu. RED program aims at "self-rescue" mainly, i.e. it encourages every divers to avoid accidents assertively.

TEMPORARY CERTIFICATE CARD is a paper(until official card will be delivered by PADI)
The program covers a lot of practical trainings;
For instance, according to a few senarios, we take several procedures.
1) search for a person to be in an accident in the water
2) move him/her on the surface of the water
3) manage of the airway
4) pick him/her up off the water with giving CPR(cardiopulmonary pesuscitation)
It was tough training for me to have seawater not only from a mouth but ears and nose :-p. However, I believe to increase awareness of safety issues when I will enjoy scuba diving from now on. This program is not over. It is important to keep the current motivation in the future.
Lunch: specialty of Ohse-kan(Izu) "Sukiyaki Nabeyaki Udon"(Left-before boiling, right - just before eating).
It tastes like sukiyaki... substance in the pan are, wheat noodle, rice cake. Moreover, a bowl of rice is with the menu... This is actually carbohydrate-rich meal!!
