New Year Asakusa Kabuki
We went to see Kabuki in Asakusa today.

New Year Asakusa Kabuki is somehow different from traditional plays in Kabuki-za and others. 5 young Kabuki actors play different casting between matinee and evening show. They are Omezo, Shido, Kamejiro, Kantaro and Shichinosuke. All of them are active in various fields other than Kabuki. We enjoy their impressive growth.
Incidentally, it should be interesting to see different casting. For instance, major role in a play of "Kenuki" are Omezo(matinee) and Shido(evening show). While Omezo is taught from his fater, Sadanji(Takashimaya), Shido's instructor is Danjyuro(Naritaya). That means interpretation of the play is different between 2 families, Takashimaya and Naritaya. Script or timing of the play is likely to be slightly different.
The one of the another highlights of Asakusa Kabuki is "delivery a message for New Year" by these 5 kabuki actors. They give a message with rotation. It takes around 5 min. to deliver a New Year message. 5min. is enough long to say a lot. Usually it is a task for main casting. We trust these 5 actors could do the main casting in big theater. Kamejyuro did at today's matinee.

Flowers would be in the dressing rooms usually. However, at Asakusa
auditorium, we can enjoy to see who send to whome what kinds of flowers:-)
For instance, Shido who becomes really famous for CM, movie, TV received flowers from TV stations, scenarist, entertainers and so on.
